I was all groggy eyed, just up from a long, hour long nap, when I saw the message on winpop – “Meet at CR 1 at 11. Attendance compulsory.” I groaned inwardly and looked at the clock. Two hours to go. Enough time for a game of tennis.
Two hours and a bruised right wrist later, I found myself engrossed in one of the most amazing flash presentation I’ve ever seen. And thus was I initiated into a world where you learn lessons they never teach in the classroom, where you discover your hidden talents, you make lifelong bonds and ties, you work 24 x 7, and for a change, you start enjoying the work. The world of Xpressions.
Two weeks later, with goals defined and re-defined, and with standards raised high, we actually were already chest deep in making it a success. The sessions that stretched deep into the night, and often into early morning, the endless cups of plastic poison consumed, the heated arguments, the back – slaps, the occasional yawn and the subsequent PJ’s…
Deadlines have to be met, priorities have to be set, teamwork, results, strategies drawn and then re - drawn… hey!! Aren’t these what a manager needs to do? If yes, then while working to make Xpressions a success, I’m almost half – way there.
